This is Sylvie, a pilgrim who walks the Way of St James from Germany and/or the Netherlands to France via Belgium where she lives.
"Since 2008, she says, I cross the Belgian ways of St James. First meeting with the Friends of St James. I wondered what these long distance pilgrims would look like. What will they think about a female pilgrim, a "pelerineke" like me ?
I was worrying... Do they wear a long dress covered with scallop shells ? Do they hold a thik stick and a gourd ?
Do they have stars in their eyes ? Do they chant "magnificat" while they walk ?
In Aachen, Germany, the Way of St James is marked with a metal milestone covered with European symbols.

On my arrival at the Huy train station, I am warmly welcomed by frank smiles and direct hand-shakings.
We recognize each other from our casual dresses. Many of them have a small shell on their backpack or their stick."
